American War Mothers Memorial Fountain
This fountain is in the small traffic circle at the intersection of East Meyer Boulevard and The Paseo. It is a rectangular limestone obelisk standing 18 feet tall in the middle of a basin. There is a spout in each face of the obelisk that streams water down to the basin below. It was erected in 1942 and is dedicated to those who served in World War I.

These two fountains are located in the South Lake in Antioch Park. There is a walking path around the lake as well as plenty of trees and flowers.

Armour Center Fountain
This fountain was a gift from the J.C. Nichols Company to commemorate the opening of the Armour Hills subdivision. It may have been designed to be a companion piece to the Romanelli Island Fountain just west of this location across Brookside and Wornall.

Belinder Circle Fountain
Beginning in the 1920s, J.C. Nichols and, later his son, Miller Nichols installed sculptures imported from Europe in the Country Club district of Mission Hills, Kansas. The sculptures were given to local homes associations.

The fountain dates back to the 17th century and an Italian villa near Siena, Italy but had been at an English manor for about 80 years prior to being purchased by J.C. Nichols in the early 1920s.

City of Westwood Hills Fountain
A sign and fountain at the intersection of State Line Road and 50th Street welcoming travelers to Westwood Hills, the “most beautiful little city in Kansas.” It consists of a stone and brick basin with a single water jet.

Colonial Court Fountain
On 59th Street, from Oakwood Road to Overhill Road, there is a long linear park known as Colonial Court. The Colonial Court Fountain sits at the east end of this park. It is believed that the fountain was hand-carved sometime during the 19th century.

Eubank Memorial Fountain
A triple fountain on a traffic island in front of the Raytown City Hall building. It consists of three brick basins with one water jet in the center of each basin. There is a small path winding through the fountains on the island. The fountains are dedicated to Dillard M. Eubank, M.D., a community leader and doctor.

Helen Cuddy Rose Garden Fountain
The rose garden in Antioch Park is named in honor of Helen S. Cuddy (1896-1997) for her dedication to park beautification through lifelong service and work in garden club projects. The rose garden contains this fountain, a wide variety of trees, perennials, shrubs, ornamental grasses, a sundial and a gazebo.

Joe D. Dennis Park Fountain
In 1973, Westwood Park, as it was then known, underwent renovations for improvements to the park. This fountain was designed and constructed as part of these improvements.

The Laura Conyers Smith Rose Garden at Loose Park has contained a water feature since the 1930s. The original design for the rose garden included a small lily pool in the center of the garden, which was built and dedicated in 1936.

Loose Park Lake Fountain
In 1927, Ella Loose, wife of the late Jacob Loose, donated the land that is now Loose Park to the city to create a park in honor of her husband. On that land, was a small lake. In 1964, the lake was beautified in the style of a Japanese garden and a fountain was installed in the lake.

“Adam and Eve” Loose Park Wall Fountains
In 1941, the Works Progress Administration sponsored a competition to select an artist for a fountain in Jacob Loose Park. Jeanette Klein of Kansas City was awarded the commission and she created larger-than-life-size figures of a man and a woman in clay, which were placed in semicircular niches on the south wall of a service building. They were unveiled during the 1942 Rose Day celebration.

This fountain, originally called the “Boy and a Fish” fountain, was purchased in 1923 by J. C. Nichols and was located on the Country Club Plaza until 1968 when it was moved to its present location at 79th and The Paseo to accommodate the Seville Light Fountain. The original sculpture of “Boy and a Fish” is no longer here, but the ornate fountain basins remain intact.

Merriam Bear Pit Fountain
This multi-level, multi-feature fountain is located along Shawnee Mission Parkway in Merriam just east of Interstate 35. It starts up by Shawnee Mission Parkway with a large pool with four bubblers in it and a sign for the City of Merriam across the top.

Meyer Circle Sea Horse Fountain
Purchased by J. C. Nichols in Venice, Italy in the early 1920s – the sculpture dates back to the 1700s – the fountain is named for the three mythological sea horses perched atop the stone pyramid.

Mission Hills City Hall Fountain
This fountain sits in front of the Mission Hills City Hall on State Line Road. It is made of a low brick wall forming a rectangular basin. Originally, there were two large bubblers in the basin, which can be seen in one of the pictures below.

Prairie Village Gateway Fountain
The Prairie Village Gateway Fountain sits at the northwest corner of the intersection of Mission Road and Tomahawk Road and across the street from The Village shopping center. It features the concrete-and-stone sculpture “Pioneer Family” by Annabelle Campbell.

Romanelli Island Fountain
The fountain was purchased in Florence, Italy in 1925 and was created by Romano Romanelli. The fountain, a traditional pedestal type, and sculpture are made of travertine, a type of limestone. The sculpture on top depicts three cherubs surrounding a goose.

Romany Fountain
This pedestal fountain is another quiet statement of beauty along Ward Parkway. Two saucers issue water into the pool below through the pursed lips of faces of either children or angels. At one time, a sunken garden was maintained on either side.

Sixty-Ninth Street Fountain
The JC Nichols Company installed this fountain in the median of Ward Parkway between West 68th Terrace and West 69th Street in 1930. The pedestal fountain is mounted on a stone base and sits in a 30′ x 36′ pool.

Stratford Gardens Fountain
This fountain dates to 1927. The lower basin is an antique horse trough made from Carrara marble that reportedly was first used in a public square in Rome. The smaller trough resting above it was used for human consumption while they waited for their animal to drink.

Swan Fountain
Verona Columns Park is at the intersection of Ensley Lane, Overhill Road, and Mission Lane in Mission Hills. The park is named after the eight columns at the back of the park arranged in a slightly semi-circular pattern.On the east edge of Country Club Plaza and across the street from the Mill Creek Park fountain is a triangular traffic island on which sits the Seville Light Fountain. Sculptor Bernhard Zuckerman was commissioned to create an exact replica of the Plaza de Los Reyes Fountain in Seville, Spain. Seville is one of Kansas City’s sister cities and this fountain was dedicated in honor of that relationship.

Tomahawk Fountain
The Tomahawk Fountain is situated on a triangular traffic island at the intersection of Tomahawk Road and Wenonga Road in Mission Hills. The fountain and its base are made of coquina limestone and pool is made of roughhewn stone.

Ward Parkway Mirror Pool Fountain
Taking up almost the entire median block between W 61st Terrace and W 62nd Street along Ward Parkway, the Mirror Pool Fountain was constructed in 1924 as part of a beautification effort along Ward Parkway. It was originally a reflecting pool but was also used at times for miniature boating and ice skating.

Wornall Fountain
AKA Armour Fields Fountain, Wornall and 67th Street Fountain
This fountain sits on a triangular traffic island on the west side of Wornall Road at 67th Street. It consists of an urn on top of a pedestal. There is a waterspout in the middle of the urn. When the urn fills up the water falls down into the triangular, brick-lined pool below.

49/63 Neighborhood Fountain
Designed by artist Will Nettleship, this fountain is found in a green space at the intersection of E 58th and Lydia and bordered on the east by The Paseo. It is in the 49-63 Neighborhood Coalition which encompasses many neighborhoods between 49th Street and 63rd Street.
