Joy of the Waters

A young woman dances, unleashing her boundless energy of youth with pure joy and happiness. This work exemplifies the most significant period of the artist, Harriet Whitley Frishmuth, where she exploited the expressive potential of the human figure. It is probably the most reproduced work of Frishmuth’s. The fountain element was placed around the base of the sculpture making it seem that the woman is dancing upon rocks through a pond or stream. This fountain is located in the Aquila Room in the Ford Learning Center in the Nelson-Atkins Building.
