This fountain serves as a gateway to the campus of William Jewell College at the Mill Street entrance in Liberty. It is a large, interactive fountain that invites people to walk in and around it. There is a gap in the fountain so that people can get inside of the fountain and sit or stand on the central pedestal. It is a popular place to cool off during the hot summer.
The fountain is a memorial to Terry D. Barnes, a 1989 graduate of William Jewell. Barnes was killed in his own apartment by police in a tragic case of mistaken identity. The fountain, a gift from the Barnes family to the college, was installed and completed in 2000.
