Granada Light

Granada Light

This ornate cast iron streetlight is on the northeast corner of the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Nichols Road on Country Club Plaza. The light pole is in a triangular plan with a light in the center and at each point. The base support consists of three steer hooves supporting winged dragons. There is a lion mask at the center of each panel. The lights are supported by serpents. The steer hooves sit on an 18-inch-tall cast iron pedestal with bas-relief entablature. There is acanthus leaf detail on the top edge and egg and dart detail on the bottom. The base, which features built-in benches, is made of granite.
