Apparent Systems (Green Grass)

Apparent Systems (Green Grass)

At first glance, the stalks remind one of the grasses on the shore of the Missouri River. The layered steel in multiples replicates a landscape with man-made materials superimposed on the paver platform. As a working scale model of the larger river environment translated in the urban realm, the height of the steel stalks is informed by the height of the water of the river. Mixed into the paver is actual grass and plants and, unless you look closely, it is hard to tell what is real and what is the sculpture.
