This summer, the City of Fountains Foundation invited local artists to capture the beauty and spirit of Kansas City’s fountains in our Summer Open Capture Call-for-Art.
The response was extraordinary, with 18 artists submitting 42 original works of art, each reflecting the creativity, passion, and unique perspective of our community.
A Showcase of Talent
The online art show highlights the incredible range of interpretations our fountains inspire — from sweeping landscapes to detailed close-ups, from traditional styles to modern expressions.
Each piece celebrates Kansas City’s reputation as the City of Fountains while shining a light on the local artists who bring these landmarks to life through their work.
Winners of the Summer Open Capture
This season’s Summer Open Capture brought together a remarkable range of creativity, and every submitted artwork is available for purchase in our online gallery. Each piece offers a unique perspective on Kansas City’s fountains and celebrates the talent of our local artists.
We are excited to congratulate this year’s three winning artists, each receiving a $500 award for their outstanding work:
- Spirit of Freedom Fountain by Denny Dowdy
- Children’s Fountain by Kindra Back
- Mill Creek Park Fountain by Teddy Jackson
In addition to their original pieces, these winners also have 11×14 fine art prints available in our store. It’s a wonderful way to bring home a piece of Kansas City while supporting the Foundation’s mission to preserve and celebrate our fountains.
Art That Gives Back
Original works featured in the online show are available for purchase, with 25% of every sale generously donated by the artists to the City of Fountains Foundation.
These contributions help preserve and maintain Kansas City’s fountains, monuments, and public art — ensuring their beauty and cultural impact endure for generations.
