Westin Crown Center
This hotel was constructed into the side of a massive outcropping of shale and limestone known as Signboard Hill. Construction removed great amounts of shale and limestone, revealing a new bluff that served as the foundation of the hotel and the interior backdrop of the lobby.
The hillside garden built into the bluff rises at a 45-degree angle above the mezzanine balcony. A man-made stream flows through the garden down to the 12-foot waterfall and to the pool below. The waterfall is created by a recirculation system that operates at 250 gallons per minute. The entire garden and waterfall display is five floors high and approximately 100 feet wide. It welcomes visitors and hotel guests into its peaceful setting.
