Reaching

Reaching

Installed in the early 1980s, “Reaching” resulted from the repurposing of an old piece of playground equipment. The piece came from an arch climber that had pegs sticking out on the sides. Parks personnel turned it on end, removed the pegs, coated it with a clear finish and bolted it to a square concrete slab. The clear finish is deteriorating, exposing the layers of the laminated wood which gives it a different look, colors and texture. It decorates what would otherwise be a bare triangle of green bordered by E 26th, Van Brunt and Colorado Avenue.
