This sculpture is the City of Shawnee’s memorial to police officers and firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty. On the left, a fireman wearing an oxygen mask carrying a child in his arms. On the right, a police officer looks down on a young boy while holding his hand. There is a plaque with the names of the fallen flanked by shields for both the Shawnee Police Department and Shawnee Fire Department. The fire station that is home to the sculpture bears the name of the fallen firefighter.
