AKA Ts’ung Tube XLV: Organic Solidarity II; Organic Solidarity

This artist created a line of stone sculptures that were inspired by an ancient Chinese jade ritual object called “ts’ung tube” or “cong” or “zong.” It was an early yin/yang form that represented the unity between heaven and earth through the use of squares and circles.

This sculpture consists of a large piece of granite, smooth on one side and rough with striations on the other. There is a square shape with a stainless-steel cylinder running vertically through it.

This sculpture is part of the International Sculpture Garden at the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens.
