A Message from the City of Fountains Foundation

Fountain Fest, originally scheduled for April 19th, 2025, will now debut in April 2026.

We remain committed to creating a meaningful celebration of culture, creativity, and community—and we’ll use the additional time to make Fountain Fest 2026 an experience worth the wait.

In the meantime, we invite you to join us for Fountain Day on Wednesday, April 23rd at 2:30 p.m. at Mill Creek Park, as we mark the return of Kansas City’s fountains for the season.

Fountain Fest: Coming Spring 2026

Fountain Fest will debut as a new spring tradition in April 2026, honoring Kansas City’s fountains with a day dedicated to art, music, and shared community spirit.

What began as Fountain Day—a simple gathering to mark the seasonal return of our city’s fountains—is growing into a full-day celebration that reflects the heart and character of Kansas City.

This event represents a renewed commitment to the City of Fountains Foundation’s mission, with an eye toward the future and a deep respect for the legacy of our fountains.

General Event Information

What is Fountain Fest, and what is its purpose?

Fountain Fest is a citywide celebration marking the official start of spring in Kansas City by turning on more than 200 fountains across the metro. This event highlights the beauty, history, and cultural significance of our fountains while bringing the community together for a day of live entertainment, art, food, and fun activities. The festival also helps raise awareness and support for the City of Fountains Foundation, which works to preserve and maintain Kansas City’s fountains for future generations.

Where and when is Fountain Fest being held?

Fountain Fest was originally scheduled for Saturday, April 19th, 2025, at Mill Creek Park. The event has been canceled and will now debut in spring 2026. Please check back or sign up for email updates to be the first to know when the new date is announced.

Is there an entry fee for Fountain Fest?

No! Fountain Fest is completely free to attend, making it an accessible event for everyone in the community to enjoy.

Are pets allowed at the event?

Yes, leashed pets are welcome at Fountain Fest! We encourage attendees to bring their furry friends but ask that all pet owners follow Kansas City’s leash laws and clean up after their pets to ensure a fun and safe experience for everyone.

What activities will be available for families and kids?

Fountain Fest is a family-friendly event featuring a Kids Zone with live entertainment. Kids can enjoy interactive performances, hands-on activities, and creative experiences designed to inspire and engage. In addition, live music will be played at the main stage throughout the day, creating a lively atmosphere for all ages.

Who will be performing during Fountain Fest?

Our entertainment lineup is still being finalized, but a diverse mix of local musicians, performers, and entertainers will take the main stage throughout the event. Stay tuned for the official lineup announcement!

Will there be any speeches or presentations by city officials?

Yes! City officials, including the Mayor and the President of the City of Fountains Foundation, will take the stage to celebrate the importance of Kansas City’s fountains and share updates on preservation efforts. These speeches will highlight the role of fountains in our city’s history and their future.

Can I watch the artists painting live during the event?

Absolutely! Artists will be painting live throughout the day as part of the Fountain Fest Plein Air Paint-Out, capturing the beauty of the fountains, the park, and the festival atmosphere. Their finished artwork will be available for purchase from 4:00 to 5:00 PM at the event, and unsold pieces will be available on our website after the festival.

Is there a schedule of performances and activities?

Yes! A full schedule of performances, speeches, and activities is being developed and will be released closer to the event.

Will there be Fountain Fest merchandise available for purchase?

Yes! Exclusive Fountain Fest merchandise will be available at the City of Fountains Foundation tent near the main stage. Stop by to purchase festival souvenirs, support the foundation, and take home a piece of Kansas City’s fountain legacy.

Participation and Involvement

How can I apply for booth space at Fountain Fest?

Businesses, nonprofits, and organizations can apply for booth space by visiting this PAGE. Booth spaces provide a great opportunity to engage with festival attendees, showcase your brand, and be part of Kansas City’s newest spring tradition.

Can food trucks still register for the event?

The Fountain Fest Plein Air Paint-Out has been canceled for 2025. However, artists are encouraged to participate in our Spring Open Capture challenge, which invites you to create original artwork inspired by three designated fountains across the city. Is there a way to donate to the City of Fountains Foundation during the event?

Yes! Donations can be made at the City of Fountains Foundation tent, located near the main stage. Contributions go toward the maintenance and preservation of Kansas City’s fountains, ensuring they remain a cherished part of our city’s landscape.

How can I support the City of Fountains Foundation outside of the event?

If you’re unable to attend Fountain Fest but would still like to support the preservation of Kansas City’s fountains, you can donate online at HERE. Every contribution helps keep these iconic landmarks flowing for future generations.

Food and Vendors

What types of food and drinks will be available?

Festival-goers can enjoy a variety of BBQ and Mexican cuisine, refreshing soft drinks and water, as well as desserts and ice cream from local food trucks. Additionally, Plaza restaurants will be offering special promotions at their locations after the event, so you can continue the celebration with even more dining options.

Are vegetarian or gluten-free options provided?

At this time, there are no designated vegetarian or gluten-free options, but some food trucks may offer menu items that accommodate dietary preferences. We encourage attendees to check directly with vendors at the event.

Will vendors accept cash, cards, or mobile payments?

All vendors at Fountain Fest will accept debit and credit cards as payment. Some vendors may also accept mobile payment options like Apple Pay or Google Pay, but cash may not be accepted, so plan accordingly.

Accessibility, Weather and Logistics

Is Fountain Fest accessible for individuals with disabilities?

Yes, Fountain Fest is accessible for individuals with disabilities. The event takes place in Mill Creek Park, which has paved walkways for easy mobility access. Additionally, ADA-compliant porta potties will be available for attendees.

Are there restrooms available at the event?

Yes, porta potties will be located at the north end of the park for festival attendees.

What happens if it rains on the day of the event?

Fountain Fest is a rain-or-shine event. However, if inclement weather occurs, the schedule may be adjusted to ensure the safety and enjoyment of attendees. Follow our social media channels and event updates for any last-minute changes.

Is there a designated area for lost and found?

Yes, any lost items can be reported or retrieved at the City of Fountains Foundation tent, located near the main stage.

Are there shaded areas or seating available?

Mill Creek Park has plenty of trees that provide natural shade, but seating is not provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs and umbrellas for comfort throughout the day.
