My earliest memories of going with my grandfather here and there around Kansas City and being awestruck when we passed a fountain. I actually got into a couple of them when I thought nobody was looking! I’m a Kansas City girl, born, raised, schooled, worked, jailed, got fired, went back to school, was a newspaper reporter for many years, started a magazine, married, had kids, who now have kids, and, will likely will die — right here. As a teen, I was given a scholarship to attend a summer course at the Kansas City Art Institute, but that got cut short when my mom learned it was a life drawing class. Other than that, I’m pretty much self-taught. I paint every day, what I feel and see, in colors chosen mostly at random. It makes me happy when people say they enjoy my work.
